Howard L. Martin
Lead Consultant and owner Howard L. Martin has extensive experience in aviation matters both as a legal professional and pilot. Howard has been a pilot for over forty years, operating land, ski and float-equipped aircraft across Alaska and other parts of the United States. He served as an officer in the United States Air Force in both the reserves and active duty, then transitioned to serving the civilian aviation community as an attorney and supervisor for over 3 decades in the FAA Alaska Region, and concluded his career as the Senior Advisor to the FAA Chief Counsel. His experience spans multiple facets of aviation including enforcement, regulatory development, investigations, airport development and unmanned aircraft systems.
He has served as an expert witness in state and federal courts and was co-chair and co-author of the Federal Aviation Alaska Safety Initiative and recipient of the Alaskan Region Visionary Leadership Award. He has provided his expertise to state and federal agencies including the USDOT and Department of Justice in significant criminal prosecutions. He has presented to a myriad of regional and national aviation groups on regulatory matters and aviation safety. He was recently featured in Flying With Wings, a publication dealing with the aftermath of a significant aviation disaster in Alaska.
